Archimedes institute offers PhD scholarships in mathematics and computer science for a duration of one to three academic years. Interdisciplinary projects have priority, linked with at least one of these two disciplines.

The institute also develops specific funding programs, this year in Artificial Intelligence, with one PhD allowance in the context of the AIDoc call.

Schedule

This call has four steps.

  • PhD research subject by supervisors
  • application
  • pre-selection by supervisors
  • interview by the adhoc committee

The schedule is the following : research project by PhD supervisors : April 15th by email to institut-archimede@univ-amu.fr with

  • email subject : "Sujet AIDOC"
  • Title
  • Supervisor(s)
  • presentation for the PhD project (in English) : pdf file


  • call to applicants : from 10/04/22 to 30/05/2022
  • deadline for applying : 30/05/22 23h59.
  • preselection of one applicant per project by supervisors => June 8th 12h00
  • interview : week 13/06/22

Applicants must contact the supervisor for the project they chose.

Funding

The funding is available for up to 3 years in the PhD program in ED184, Marseille. Monthly net salary is about 1 640 € (health insurance etc.. included).

How to apply ?

Application

Application has to contain :

  • A detailed project for the PhD project considered, including a title, name of the PhD supervisor and the research unit in which the PhD will take place, endorsed by the supervisor

  • A resume

  • Quotations and evaluations of the degrees since high school

  • A cover letter specifying the doctoral program chosen and the motivation for the project proposed

  • Two letters of recommendation.

The application files are to be sent by email to institut-archimede-applications-ia@univ-amu.fr before May 30th 23h59, with cc to prospective PhD supervisor. Selected candidates will be invited for an interview in mid-June.
